Credit notes (sales returns and discounts)

Reduce what a customer owes for returned goods, a post-sale discount or a price correction.

Where to find it: Sell & buy → Credit notesOpen in app

Issue a credit note

  1. 1Go to Credit notes and click New credit note.
  2. 2Choose the original Invoice the credit is against.
  3. 3Pick a Reason: Goods returned by the customer, Discount given after the sale, Price or quantity correction, or Other.
  4. 4For each line, enter the Qty to credit (and rate). Leave lines you're not crediting at zero.
  5. 5Click Save as draft to review later, or Issue credit note.

Tip: When the reason is Goods returned by the customer, the goods are added back to stock automatically.

How it affects GST

Issued credit notes reduce your sales and output tax and are reported in GSTR-1 under Credit notes (CDNR / CDNUR), linked to the original invoice.
