Record payments received and made

Mark invoices and bills as paid, including part payments and TDS, and reverse a payment.

Where to find it: Sell & buy → PaymentsOpen in app

Record a payment against an invoice or bill

  1. 1Open the issued invoice (or received purchase bill) and click Record payment.
  2. 2Enter the Amount. For a part payment enter only what was paid — the rest stays as Amount due.
  3. 3Set the Date and Method (Bank transfer, Cash, Cheque, Card, Other).
  4. 4Add a Reference such as the UTR or cheque number.
  5. 5Choose the Bank / cash account the money went into (or came out of) so your bank balance stays right.
  6. 6If the customer deducted TDS, add it under TDS / tax deducted — it shows up as a credit you can claim on TDS & TCS.
  7. 7Click Record payment. The invoice shows as Paid, or Partial if something is still due.

See all payments

Payments lists every payment In & out. Filter by Received or Made, or search by reference. The Settles column shows which invoice or bill each payment cleared.

Reverse a wrong payment

  1. 1On the Payments list, click Reverse on the payment.
  2. 2Optionally give a reason, then click Reverse payment. The invoice or bill becomes unpaid again.

Tip: Payments are reversed rather than deleted so your audit trail stays complete.
