Generate an e-invoice (IRN) and e-way bill
Get an IRN and QR code for an issued invoice, and an e-way bill for goods in transit.
Where to find it: Sales invoice → E-invoice / E-way bill cards
Generate an e-invoice
- 1Make sure e-invoicing is enabled in GST configuration.
- 2Open an issued invoice. In the E-invoice (IRN) card click Generate e-invoice.
- 3The IRN, Ack no., Ack date and signed QR code appear and are printed on the invoice.
- 4If it fails, read the message, fix the invoice or customer details (often the GSTIN or address) and click Retry.
Important: An e-invoice can be cancelled only within 24 hours. After that, issue a credit note for corrections.
Generate an e-way bill
- 1Open the issued invoice and find the E-way bill card.
- 2Enter either the Transporter GSTIN / transporter name, or the Vehicle number (e.g. GJ01AB1234).
- 3Choose the Mode (Road, Rail, Air, Ship) and Vehicle type. Rail and air need the transport document number.
- 4Enter the Approximate distance (km) — validity is 1 day per 200 km (1 day per 20 km for over-dimensional cargo).
- 5Click Generate e-way bill. The EWB number and Valid until are shown.
Tip: Cards labelled Test come from practice mode and are not valid for filing or transit.
